Happy hen night

Lou's hen night started off very civilised - afternoon tea at The Tea Box in Richmond, highly recommended. As you can see, she wasn't impressed when the feather boa and headgear emerged!

Luckily I failed to take any decent photos in The Roxy (I'm sure they'll appear on Facebook soon enough) but I haven't danced that much or had that much fun in ages. Might regret it when Logan wakes up in 4 hours time but for now I'm even weirdly enjoying the novelty of being on the night bus at 3 in the morning. I need to get out more!

Mr and Mrs Sharps

Sam and Becca's wedding on Saturday was fabulous! And the perfect way to end our holiday, dancing like crazies with our friends to some rocking live music. It was such a perfect English country wedding, I'll post more pics when I get round to downloading them all.

Warhol comes to N6

While we were in Crouch End at the weekend we also discovered an amazing little gallery and print studio called Jealous.

At the moment they're hosting an American art exhibition, and for a one-room gallery it's pretty substantial - I counted four Andy Warhol prints, a Lichtenstein, two Keith Harings and a couple of Basquiats, as well as some incredible pieces by people I'd never heard of (including Leslie Wayne and Allan D'Arcangelo, which I love). Apparently they're mostly from the personal collection of the owner (jealous, moi?), but if you've got a spare £25,000 a Warhol Dollar print could be yours!

Alternatively you could buy a print from one of the artists working in the print studio for a fraction of the price (Obama Tuesday prints were £25 unframed, a large portrait of the man £125).

Apologies for lack of photos, I was so in awe I forgot to take any. If you're in the area take a look, they're on Park Road near the wedding dress shop (which is currently displaying a photo of yours truly in full wedding garb!).

"Revoke Prop 8" call from UAE

Also of note in OK! Middle East was the short paragraph devoted to Ellen DeGeneres and her shortlived marriage to Portia de Rossi. For those of you who aren't so celeb-minded, the pair got hitched last year when California legalised gay marriage. As well as voting for a new president last November, the good people of California also voted on Prop 8, a proposition to overrule the decision, and sadly the result was not good, meaning Ellen's wedding was invalidated.

The campaign to revoke Prop 8 is ongoing - many straight couples in the state (hi Kait and Ben!) are choosing domestic partnership ceremonies over marriage until the ban is overturned.

Anyway, what surprised me about the story was that OK! was supportive of Ellen's gay marriage. Odd from one of the more conservative regions of the world - last time I checked, homosexuality was illegal in the UAE.

The inaugural happy news story of the week

Heaven knows we need some good news at the moment. Step forward Mika and Anna-Bell, two German youngsters who decided on New Year's Eve to elope to Africa.

Oh, and they're five and six years old. Bless!

If Logan pulled a stunt like that in a few years though it wouldn't be so amusing...
